CAIRO, April 2 (MENA) - Egyptian novelist Ahmed Khaled Tawfik passed away in the Delta governorate of Gharbia Monday at the age of 56. Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem mourned the deceased, describing him as a great novelist who has always enriched the cultural life in Egypt and the Arab world. Tawfik wrote more than 200 paperbacks. He was the first contemporary Arab writer of horror and science fiction and the first Arab writer to explore the medical thriller genre.
