The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's banned-yet-biggest opposition power, has said it will run in the nation's different elections, but noted that it has yet to decide on the number of its contenders in the legislative polls to be held later this year. "The final decision will be announced in due time, but the group will participate in all elections," said the Brotherhood in a statement obtained by The Egyptian Gazette Online. The group, which won a fifth of the seats in the 2005 legislative elections, failed to win a single seat in the Upper House of Parliament vote held on June 1. The group, banned since 1954, fields its members as independents in elections.
