CAIRO, March 13, 2018 - Transport Minister Hisham Arafat held intensive talks on Tuesday with a number of Greek companies specialised in underground metros, a statement released by the Transport Ministry said. On the sidelines of the Middle East Rail 2018 exhibition and conference in Dubai, Minister Arafat met senior officials from the Greek Attiko Metro company to boost co-operation in Metro management and to highlight the available investment opportunities in this field. The company's senior officials expressed their willingness to co-operate in Metro projects in Cairo and in Mansoura, where a metro project is due to be implemented. The minister also discussed with the Mitsubishi Company the possibility of increased co-operation over the maintenance of 23 trains on the first Metro line. During the meetings, the minister confirmed the importance of the Metro service as a vital means of transport in Greater Cairo.
