The head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has met with the US ambassador to Cairo and a delegation from major American companies to showcase investment opportunities, particularly in port development, logistics, new energy, and infrastructure. Walid Gamal El-Din, chairperson of the SCZONE General Authority, met on Wednesday with Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg and representatives from several leading US firms at the authority's headquarters in Port Said. During the meeting, Gamal El-Din reviewed the authority's achievements and plans, stating that the zone is one of Egypt's most important national projects due to its strategic location and the integration of its ports with its industrial areas. "Cooperation with the American business community opens wide horizons in multiple fields that align with the specialisations of the companies participating in the visit," Gamal El-Din said. He highlighted opportunities in infrastructure and energy projects, digital solutions, industrial software, security and inspection systems, and financial and administrative consulting. The US ambassador said she was pleased to be in the SCZONE due to its important geographical location. She noted that the participation of American companies in developing Egyptian ports, capacity building, technology transfer, and infrastructure can achieve "shared prosperity, create jobs, and strengthen the foundations of economic growth." "This partnership brings mutual benefits to the Egyptian and American peoples and forms a solid base for sustainable development, innovation, and enhancing shared security and stability," Garg added. On the sidelines of the visit, the US delegation toured the integrated East Port Said area, including the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT), which is operated by a subsidiary of the global A.P. Moller-Maersk group. The delegation also inspected the ongoing work on the "Sky" project at East Port Said port, a multi-purpose terminal being built with investments of $65m. The US delegation includes representatives from leading companies in infrastructure, technology, and logistics, such as Bechtel, Cisco Systems, Hill International, OSI Systems/Rapiscan Systems, Alvarez & Marsal Holdings, TMEIC, and AVEVA Group. The visit will continue on Thursday with an inspection of the Sokhna port.
