Egypt, Poland discuss cooperation in agriculture, food industries
Published in Daily News Egypt on 06 - 07 - 2025

Amr Abdel Wahab, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company, received the Ambassador of Poland to Cairo, Michał Murkociński, and his accompanying delegation at the company's headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting explored prospects for cooperation between Poland and Egypt's 1.5 Million Feddan Project—one of the region's largest sustainable agricultural initiatives. Discussions centred on partnerships with major Polish companies and institutions in the fields of agricultural mechanisation, smart farming, food processing, and sustainable development.
The visit reflects the Egyptian Countryside Development Company's broader strategy to enhance international cooperation and attract foreign investment in support of the national project's goals.
Among the key topics discussed were the transfer of Polish expertise in smart agriculture and the potential for joint manufacturing of advanced agricultural tractors in Egypt, combining local labour with Polish technology. The two sides also addressed opportunities for expanding renewable energy solutions across the project's territory, and strengthening agricultural value chains through food industry cooperation.
The talks further considered the potential for partnerships between Polish companies and local investors, including young land beneficiaries, with the aim of boosting productivity and ensuring sustainable practices.
Amr Abdel Wahab emphasised that the 1.5 Million Feddan Project offers vast opportunities for serious and mutually beneficial collaboration, describing it as a model for modern agricultural development grounded in scientific and economic principles.
"We look forward to cooperating with the Polish side in agricultural technology, renewable energy generation, and food processing. We welcome all efforts that drive development and contribute to achieving food security for Egypt and the region," Abdel Wahab said.
For his part, Ambassador Murkociński expressed admiration for the progress achieved by the Egyptian Countryside Development Company in recent months, praising the project's ambitious vision and expansion plans.
"Poland has deep expertise in advanced agriculture and natural resource management. We see strong opportunities for cooperation in both the short and medium term, particularly given the solid bilateral ties between Cairo and Warsaw," the ambassador noted.
Both parties highlighted the importance of continued technical and economic exchanges, agreeing that upcoming visits will help define operational frameworks for cooperation. These visits will also allow Polish companies to explore opportunities in agricultural infrastructure development across Egypt's new countryside.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to form joint working groups to study investment opportunities presented by the Egyptian Countryside Development Company and to develop implementation plans for future collaboration across various components of the 1.5 Million Feddan Project.
