Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Sunday visited Juhayna Central Hospital in Sohag, which is ready to start operating on a trial basis in January 2023. He was accompanied by Tarek El-Feki, the Governor of Sohag. The visit was part of a series of periodic field tours that the minister conducts in all governorates, to monitor the quality of medical services provided to citizens, as well as the progress of ongoing construction and development projects. He also aimed to identify and solve any challenges and problems that might arise. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the minister received a detailed report on the work done at the hospital, which has achieved 100% completion rates. Abdel Ghaffar added that the minister inspected the hospital buildings, which cover an area of 5,710 square meters and cost EGP 180m. The hospital has a capacity of 140 beds, including 12 intensive care beds. It also has 94 residence rooms, 41 nurseries, 38 dialysis chairs, 5 operations rooms, 2 maternity booths, and a blood bank. In addition, it has 8 outpatient clinics, 4 laboratories, 5 x-ray rooms, and a recovery room. He stated that the minister reviewed the performance indicators and the number of patients who visited the hospital since its experimental operation. He instructed them to complete the equipment in all departments as soon as possible so that they could operate at full capacity and provide integrated services to citizens. He also ordered the launch of the operations department within a month, and to finalize all procedures for security contracts and cleaning work at the hospital. Furthermore, the Minister of Health and Population directed to speed up the completion of all medical equipment work at Tahta General Hospital and to quickly begin the work of developing and upgrading Al-Hilal Hospital, which belongs to the General Authority for Health Insurance, in Sohag.
