Egyptian-Chinese talks in Cairo on Sunday at level of foreign ministers
Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 01 - 2023

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will hold talks Sunday with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Qiang, who is on a visit to Cairo.
During the meeting, Shoukry and his Chinese counterpart will discuss the distinguished relations between Cairo and Beijing and ways to strengthen them in various fields, in addition to regional and international issues of common concern.
The two ministers are scheduled to hold a joint press conference at the end of the talks.
Cairo is the last leg of the Chinese foreign minister's trip to Africa.
At a meeting with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamad, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang said China will continue to be Africa's development partner for common growth, and work to build a society of shared destiny between China and Africa in the new era.
Qin Gang made four proposals for the development of Sino-African relations. He stressed the need to accelerate the material exchanges and exchange of views between China and Africa.
He also called for deepening the friendly relations between China and the African Union(AU), saying China's modernization drive offers new opportunities for Africa.
Qin Gang also called for greater efforts to upgrade Sino-African cooperation and accelerate the implementation of the results of the Eighth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and also stressed the need to deepen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
At this time, which is a new historical starting point, China stands ready to work with Africa to accelerate the implementation of the results of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, he said.
China has taken the lead in supporting AU membership in the G20 and calls for a greater role for the AU and African countries in global governance, he concluded.
