The Hercules-2 joint military drill concluded on Saturday in Egypt with the participation of the Special Forces of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece, Cyprus, Jordan, the US, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Bahrain.
The drill was held over several days at the combat training fields of the Mohammed Naguib Military Base and the training areas of the Northern Military Region.
The exercise comes within the framework of the joint training plan of the Egyptian Armed Forces to transfer and exchange experiences and strengthen military cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries.
The final stage of the training included the participating forces executing a scenario in which they raid a terrorist hotbed inside a border village, clearing it and taking it over.
A multi-mission aircraft carried out reconnaissance operations and provided air assistance to the ground teams.
The activities carried out in the training included several theoretical and practical lectures to hone the skills of the participating troops and carrying out an exhibition of weapons and equipment used in the training.
The activities also included training in reconnaissance and ambush operations, guidance of aircraft from the ground (JTAC) and unmanned aerial vehicles, handling of hazardous improvised chemicals by chemical and radiation reconnaissance elements, and implementation of a number of typical and atypical live ammunition firing using various weapons and different firing modes.
The training also showed the extent to which the troops have reached close cooperation between all participating forces and the effectiveness of exchanging and acquiring combat skills in the methods and tactics of the work of the Special Forces .
Major-General A. Rafik Arafat — Assistant Minister of Defence for Training — praised the outstanding level and effort exerted during the training and the participants' ability to carry out the required tasks efficiently and with high accuracy, thanking them all for their participation.
The Armed Forces also organised a field visit to the new city of Al-Alamein to present the giant development projects implemented there.
