Minister of Communications inspects Knowledge City in New Administrative Capital

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, has toured the Knowledge City, which is being built in the New Administrative Capital, on the latest technological systems with the aim to build an integrated information society that attracts global investments and stimulates digital creativity.
Talaat inspected the construction works and closely watched the executive position of the first phase of the project, which is scheduled to be completed during this year.
The first phase of the Knowledge City includes four buildings: the Center for Applied Innovation and Electronics Design, the Misr Informatics University, the Center for Innovation of Assistive Technologies, in addition to a training center that includes the Institute of Information Technology and the National Institute of Communications.
Talaat said that Knowledge City is one of the most prominent pioneering projects implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology within the framework of building a digital Egypt, with its multiple activities to support research and innovation in advanced technologies, develop digital skills, stimulate digital creativity and attract investments by global technology companies, as well as adapt advanced technologies to advance the digital transformation process in Egypt.
During his visit to the Egypt University of Informatics, the Minister of Communications witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Egypt University of Informatics and Telecom Egypt, where the protocol aims to provide Telecom Egypt with financial support to finance 16 full scholarships for high school graduates nationwide, as a strategic sponsor for their studies at the university within the initiative of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
It also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Egypt University of Informatics with the aim of integrating and empowering people with disabilities in the university education system and supporting scientific research, development, and entrepreneurship in the field of assistive technologies, in addition to participating in applied scientific research and cooperation with regard to laboratories, which comes within the framework of the national plan of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to support and build the capacities of persons with disabilities.
The Minister of Communications indicated that the two agreements that were signed come as a continuation of the effective partnerships established by the Egypt University of Informatics to create a distinguished educational and research environment and create a base of digital cadres and informatics experts in the field of assistive technologies.
The Egypt University of Informatics is the first university specialized in the Middle East and Africa in the fields of communications and information technology and the areas affected by it, and was established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The university includes 4 faculties: computer and information sciences, engineering, business technology, digital arts and design, and offers 16 specialized educational programs to meet the labor market's need for specialists in the latest fields of information and communication technology such as: artificial intelligence, data science and engineering, the fourth industrial revolution, electronics industry and communication sciences. Financial technology, e-marketing, animation arts, user experience and electronic game design.
