Al Ahly begin revolutionary correction after CAF Champions League final defeat
Al-Khatib meets with planning committee to decide fate of head coach Mosimane
Published in Daily News Egypt on 02 - 06 - 2022

Cairo giants Al Ahly, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, began consulting with their football company headed by Yassin Mansour to start the correction revolution in the first football team after losing the CAF Champions League final 0-2 to Moroccan Wydad last Monday.
The fate of the South African coach, Pitso Mosimane, seemed ambiguous in the past hours, as news circulated about a possible departure for the man, not only due to losing the title, but rather an accumulation of the continuing terrible decline in results and performance in recent months.
It is no secret to anyone that Mosimane is not living his best days with Al-Ahly after the continued bleeding of points in the league and the decline in performance, as it appeared as if he had lost control of the players as happened with more than one player in the last period, most notably Kahraba, who was told by the national coach to leave the Turkish League before another crisis erupted with Mohamed Mahmoud and another with Hossam Hassan and Mohamed Sharif.
It is certain that the coach's criticism of the players in the media, especially after the press conferences for the matches in which he failed, created a gap that made him lose the dressing room.
Al-Khatib puts all possibilities on the table for his upcoming meetings with the Football Company and the Planning Committee headed by Mohsen Saleh, with the membership of Zakaria Nassef and Hussam Ghaly, a member of the Board of Directors.
The administration has received many nominations for coaches in recent days, but this file will witness a careful but not slow study, as the time is right for them if they want to change in light of the end of the continental championship and the suspension of the current league.
Mosimane, for his part, owns more than one Gulf offer, most notably from Qatar.
It is noteworthy that Mosimane succeeded in winning with Al-Ahly the African Champions League title twice, as well as the African Super, third place and the bronze medal in the Club World Cup and the Egypt Cup, but he lost the Premier League competition last season, in a way that sparked intense controversy.
