Environment Minister reviews Egypt's vision for hosting COP27
Yasmine stressed Egypt's keenness to advance climate action agenda

Egypt's Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad reviewed on Wednesday the government's vision for hosting the upcoming COP27 climate conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, as it is one of the largest multilateral global conferences since the Paris Agreement in 2015.
During the meeting of the strategic framework for partnership with the United Nations (UNDPF), Yasmine stated that the work on finalizing the Paris Agreement rules book and most of the negotiation tracks at the COP26 made the first goals that the Egyptian presidency of the COP27 seeks to achieve is to build on the successes of the COP26.
She stressed Egypt's keenness to advance the climate action agenda in various fields such as mitigation and adaptation, financing, loss and damage and technology transfer.
The Minister of Environment explained that the Sharm El-Sheikh Conference is an implementation conference, by presenting different models around the world to help accelerate the pace of climate action, whether in mitigation or adaptation, noting the role of UN agencies in cooperation with Egypt in presenting multiple success stories around the world.
With regard to the global initiatives announced at the COP27, Yasmine said that the Egyptian presidency of the conference is working on a number of initiatives in the fields of agriculture, water, energy, financing, waste, transportation, and sustainable cities.

She further expressed aspiration to cooperate with the UN agencies in building and formulating those Initiatives, setting goals and the governing framework for them, to be announced at the conference.
The Minister of Environment pointed to the enhancement of opportunities for cooperation with the UN in supporting the National Climate Dialogue, which is the first national initiative to be announced to raise awareness of the issue of climate change in all Egyptian governorates.
