President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi phoned on Wednesday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, in which he stressed the need to foster dialogue in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady stated that the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the crisis. Al-Sisi stressed Egypt's support for all diplomatic efforts that would speed up the political settlement of the crisis in order to reduce the deterioration of the situation and maintain international security and stability. He also affirmed Egypt's readiness to support this trend through its active efforts in this regard, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Furthermore, the president emphasised that the country is following up with great interest the successive developments on the ground and the top priority that Egypt attaches to the safety and security of Egyptian citizens in Ukraine. Moreover, he expressed appreciation for the measures taken by the Russian side to facilitate the exit of Egyptian citizens and looked forward to continuing to provide them with possible assistance to ensure their safety and security. The call also dealt with ways to strengthen the various strategic cooperation frameworks between the two friendly countries through ongoing joint development projects. Additionally, the two sides stressed the strength of the historical and long-standing relations of cooperation between Egypt and Russia in various fields as well as the ties of friendship that bind the two countries at the official and popular levels.
