Egypt, Yemen discuss cooperation in information technology

Amr Talaat, Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, received Najeeb Mansour Hamid Al-Auj, Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Yemen, on Tuesday, to discuss joint cooperation in the field of communications and information technology.
This is within the framework of the official visit of the Yemeni government delegation to Egypt, headed by Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister of Communications said that this meeting comes within the framework of the distinguished strategic relations that bring together Egypt and Yemen over many decades. This reflects the great care that the two political leaderships give to cooperation at all levels. The Minister expressed his aspiration for a real partnership between the two countries in the field of communications and information technology.
During the meeting, Talaat reviewed Egypt's digital strategy and highlighted Egypt's achievements in the field of digital transformation into a participatory government, as well as the development of information infrastructure, maximizing the benefit from the passing of international submarine cables through Egypt, in addition to the leap achieved in building digital capabilities and supporting technological innovation and entrepreneurship. He referred to the plan implemented to develop the Egyptian Post and expand its branches.
For his part, Al-Auj praised the Egyptian experience in the field of communications and information technology. He explained his interest in cooperation in the field of training and capacity development in the fields of communications and information technology, and learning about the experience of training centers affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to contribute to the revival of the communications center in Yemen, as well as cooperation in the field of communications regulation and transferring the Egyptian experience in this regard, including relevant legislation, such as protecting personal data and combating cybercrime.
He also expressed his aspiration to benefit from the Egyptian experience in the field of postal development at the level of developing post offices as well as services provided to citizens.
The meeting witnessed a review of Egypt's manufacturing capabilities in the field of mobile phones and the possibility of providing these products to the Yemeni market, in addition to providing advisory services and technical support in the field of fiber extension.
