Siemens to supply Egypt with 162 CT scan devices to detect COVID-19 cases

Egypt's Health Minister visits headquarters of Siemens Healthineers in Germany

Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed visited, on Sunday, the main factory for the production of medical devices and diagnostic radiology devices at the headquarters of Siemens Healthineers in Munich, Germany. Siemens will supply Egypt with 162 CT scan devices to detect coronavirus cases, as part of the state's response plan.
Zayed was received by the Regional President of Siemens Healthineers in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
During a meeting, the Minister reviewed the Egyptian initiative for women's health, as she discussed the supply of 40 mammogram devices to examine women within the initiative and use them in hospitals and mobile clinics.
Zayed stressed the importance of using the women's database as part of the initiative, which will have a significant impact on improving and accuracy of diagnosis rates using artificial intelligence technology.
The Minister praised the high levels of technology in the manufacture of medical devices, expressing the desire of her ministry to continue cooperation with Siemens.
Moreover, Zayed also discussed with the company's officials the supply of x-ray devices to hospitals and health units included in the "Decent Life" initiative, in addition to the supply of mobile radiology cars to serve patients in villages and remote areas within the initiative.
She further discussed supporting the hospitals of the comprehensive health insurance system, by supplying 12 CT scan machines for hospitals in the governorates of the first phase, in addition to 42 machines for the system hospitals in the governorates of the second phase.
Additionally, the minister agreed to hold joint training programs between radiologists in Egypt and the German side to increase the efficiency of the human element and to train Egyptian doctors on artificial intelligence systems.
