During every holiday season in Egypt, people are usually out shopping for gifts and preparing for "the most wonderful time of the year", while others are making plans for activities and trips to enjoy their precious days off.
This year's Eid Al-Adha holidays, which celebrate the Feast of Sacrifice, are special as people can enjoy an extended eight days off, which will give them the chance to do many activities.
In this article, Daily News Egypt will list a number of new films that have been released in time for the holidays, as well as concerts that are set to take place, and other activities that can be undertaken during this long holiday.
The new films that will be screened during this year's Eid Al-Adha holidays are:
Al-Aref ("The Knower")
The film stars Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed Fahmy, Mustafa Khater, Mahmoud Hamida, and Carmen Basibes. The plot revolves around the issue of cybercrime through the story of Younis, a man who lives with his wife and their baby girl, as he decides to rob a bank through the internet, but then finds himself chased by a dangerous gang.
Some People don't Revisit the Marriage Officiant
The film's plot revolves around the experience of marriage, but taking a comedic point of view for the storyline. The film was released last week, and will continue showing at cinemas during the Eid Al-Adha holidays.
The film asks, and tries to answer, the question, "If people go back in time will they choose to be married again?" The film stars Karim Abdel Aziz, Dina El-Sherbiny, and Maged El Kedwany.
Mousa
The film Mousa is a science fiction film, starring Karim Abdel Aziz who plays the lonely protagonist who does not have any friends. As a result, he decides to invent a robot called Mousa to act as his only friend. His life, however, does not go as he plans.
El Ens wa Al Nems ("The Man and the mongoose")
Using light comedy, the plot revolves around a poor young man working as a public servant who faces many problems and obstacles because of his father's profession, and at the same time he falls in love with his college. The film stars Mohamed Henedy, Menna Shalaby, and Amr Abdel Jalil.
Moreover, a number of Egyptian and Arab singers and musicians have announced that they will be performing Eid Al-Adha concerts this year.
Lebanese singer-actress Nicole Saba will perform live at Crystal Beach, on the North Coast, on the third day of the Eid Al-Adha holidays on 22 July. During the concert, she will perform several of her old and new songs.
Meanwhile, Egyptian superstar Tamer Hosny will perform a concert in El Alamein City, as part of the El Alamein Music Festival on 21 July, the second day of Eid Al-Adha. He will present a number of his new songs that were released for the first time in his latest film Mesh Ana ("Not Me").
The Lebanese singer Wael Jassar will also perform a concert on 21 July in El Alamein City, accompanied by Amina and Mahmoud El-Leithi. Jassar will also perform another concert in Alexandria on 22 July, as part of the Summer Festival.
The famed singer Medhat Saleh will perform a concert on 24 July at the Great Hall Theater in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, also as part of the Summer Festival.
As for family picnics and activities, the Giza Zoo will receive visitors during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, and will be displaying new animals such as giraffes, alpacas, Southern American camels, a Russian bear, and an Arabian oryx.
The giraffes that Egypt received from South Africa will be displayed for the first time during the Eid Al-Adha holidays.
Moreover, the Egyptian actor Ashraf Abdel Baky will present a new play entitled Garima Fl Maadi on the North Coast, starting from Tuesday.
The play is based on the English comedy play, called The Play That Goes Wrong, written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. The play revolves around a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does. The accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences.
