Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a telephone call, on Sunday, with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, to discuss enhancing joint bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the call, Al-Sisi noted that these efforts would focus especially on the economic and investment levels.
The two sides also asserted the importance of increasing trade exchange between the two countries, to achieve the aspirations of the two peoples, in addition to the importance of upgrading political relations.
Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the call dealt with bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Oman, as well as discussing the latest developments in a number of different regional issues of common interest.
Al-Sisi expressed his best wishes to Oman to succeed in completing the comprehensive development process started by the late Sultan Qaboos, whilst hailing the historical relations between Egypt and Oman.
He said that relations with Oman are characterised by decades of solidarity, and supporting each other in crises and challenges.
Al-Sisi asserted Egypt's keenness to maintain and advance these distinguished relations.
Moreover, Bin Tarik praised the distinguished Egyptian-Omani relations, and expressed his country's keenness to strengthen the existing cooperation frameworks between the two countries and open new horizons for bilateral cooperation.
He indicated the need to continue consultations and coordination between the two sides on regional and international issues of concern. This is in light of Egypt's being a key axis in maintaining the security and stability of the region, in addition to Oman's endeavour to benefit from the pioneering and inspiring development experience of Egypt.
Rady added that Al-Sisi expressed appreciation for the generous treatment received by the Egyptian community in Oman. Meanwhile, the Omani Sultan stressed the importance of the Egyptian community continuing their role in supporting Oman in its renaissance and progress.
