Enterprise Sigma Technology, a subsidiary of Select International, has completed the construction of a sewage treatment plant in the Al-Atamna village of Manfalout, Assiut governorate, in Upper Egypt. Assiut Governor Essam Saad inspected the plant as it started the trial operation on 1 May. The plant is part of an integrated sanitation project worth a total cost of EGP 460m, with a total capacity of 38,000 cbm. The first phase of the project has been built on an area of 175 feddan. The project serves the city of Manfalout, the villages of Nazzah Qarar, Bani Magd and Sarawa, benefitting 300,000 people. Shady Samir, Chairperson of Select International Group, said the project is part of a group of projects in various governorates across Egypt. These projects are in line with the Egyptian state's ambitious plan to raise the efficiency of sewage stations nationwide. He added that Assiut governorate is cooperating with the company in an integrated manner to overcome all obstacles and facilitate procedures, and to complete the project in preparation for the trial operation on 1 May. The project will be handed over to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, and will form part of an integrated project for sanitation in Manfalout. The project consists of a treatment plant, a main pumping station in the village of Al-Hema, a sub-pumping station, and two supporting pumping stations. In addition, the projects include a 45 km network with diameters ranging from 175 to 1,000 mm of clay pipes, and 26 km of extrusion lines with diameters ranging from 500 to 800 mm. Enterprise Sigma Technology specialises in wastewater treatment by supplying electromechanical plants for water and wastewater treatment, as well as pumping stations. The company is also participating in several projects to raise the efficiency of sewage and wastewater treatment plants in several governorates. Furthermore, Enterprise Sigma Technology has also contracted projects worth over EGP 1.5bn, in the field of water treatment. A total of 30% of these projects fall under the "Decent Life" initiative, which was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The group joined forces with the initiative to build 12 sewage water treatment plants and recycle water in a number of districts in the governorates of Qaliubiya, Marsa Matrouh, Gharbeya, and Sohag. These stations will provide clean water to nearly 45,000 Egyptian families in the targeted sites of the initiative. In addition, the company aspires to establish more stations to pump and treat water in a number of governorates, in line with the state's vision to maximise the utilisation of available water resources.
