The National Automotive Company (NATCO), the Egypt distributor for Mercedes-Benz, has appointed Yasser Saleh Ibrahim as CEO, effective as of 9 June.
Ibrahim possesses a distinguished international experience exceeding 28 years in the automotive field inside and outside Egypt.
Ibrahim started his career with the Mercedes-Benz brand, where he was appointed as an Export Manager at Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV). He succeeded in establishing an international distribution network to export Egyptian-manufactured Mercedes-Benz buses to most Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region countries.
He was later promoted to the CEO position with SAPPL Mercedes-Benz in Algeria, the German-Algerian partnership that resulted in the establishment of the Mercedes-Benz Algeria factory in 2013.
Ibrahim was then appointed CEO of the Egyptian German Automotive company (EGA). In this role, he was a proactive partner throughout negotiations to resume the manufacturing of Mercedes-Benz models at EGA plants in 6th of October City.
Also during this time in the role, Ibrahim built EGA up as an international approved supplier of Mercedes-Benz, and positioning the company's factories as exporters of brake discs to Mercedes-Benz in Germany.
Ibrahim has attained a comprehensive record of success in achieving growth and applying positive changes at companies he has managed. He seeks to continue this in his new role at NATCO, which has a prominent position in the Egyptian market.
The new CEO expressed his happiness at joining the NATCO team, which has established itself as a leading local partner in the automotive sector. NATCO encompasses a diversified set of activities, products and innovative services under its umbrella.
These services contribute to serving Egypt's automotive sector, and include manufacturing, car assembly and spare parts, as well as, sales and after sales services. Moreover, these services have had a significant impact on the growth and development of the country's automotive sector, and will support the strategy of transforming Egypt into a strategic centre for car manufacturing.
Ibrahim said that NATCO has a long history of achievements that have been accomplished over its 31 year history. This has come in addition to formulating a wide network of subsidiaries that operate in the automotive sector.
"It puts me in a position of huge responsibility that makes me work hard to exploit all of the workers' capabilities, while enhancing the sense of innovation within them," Ibrahim said. "As a result, it would contribute to adding more successes to the list of attainments that NATCO achieved throughout its honourable history."
