Egypt stresses abuse of its labourers in Libya will not be tolerated
Abdel Aal said that Egypt will respond at the time, place and manner of its own choosing.

Egypt will take a tough stance against mistreatment or abuse of its labourers in Libya, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal and Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram have stressed.
The Egyptian officials spoke after a video circulated on social media purporting to show forces loyal to Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) abusing Egyptian nationals. The video allegedly shows a group of Egyptian labourers in the city of Tarhouna, which recently fell into the control of GNA-allied militias.
Abdel Aal said that Egypt will respond at the time, place and manner of its own choosing.
Responding to questions about the video, Makram stressed that Egypt "does not remain silent in the face of any aggression against Egyptians abroad". She added that "practical measures" are being taken to tackle the incident, whilst emphasising the incident in the video will not be taken lightly, stressing that any abuse of Egyptian expatriates will not be tolerated.
Libya has suffered years of instability since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011. Since 2015, two opposing sides have been involved in clashes, namely the GNA based in Tripoli, and the Libyan Arab Armed Forces (LAAF) led by army commander Khalifa Haftar in the east of the country.
GNA Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha told Bloomberg that he would investigate the video.
"These practices are rejected and denounced and have no connections with Libyan morals," He said, adding, "We care about our relationship with Egypt. Egypt has the capability to help solve Libya's problems."
