Two new gas wells come on stream: Petroleum Ministry
The two wells, Zohr 17 and Baltim South West 7, were put into operation with an average production of 390m cubic feet of gas per day (scf/day) and 1,300 barrels of condensate per day.

Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel) brought two new wells on stream to the Zohr and Baltim South West gas fields in the Mediterranean, offshore Egypt.
The two wells, Zohr 17 and Baltim South West 7, were put into operation with an average production of 390m cubic feet of gas per day (scf/day) and 1,300 barrels of condensate per day.
The announcement came in a report submitted by Petrobel Chairperson Atef Hassan to Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla.
Located in the southern area of the Zohr field, the well 17 is expected to gradually increase production to 250m scf/day. Drilled up to 5,300 metres deep, the new well is the 15th of the Zohr mega field: 10 are located in the northern part, the other 5 in the southern part.
Petrobel also managed to activate the Baltim South West 7 well with a maximum capacity of 140m scf/day and 1,300 barrels of condensate per day. The well was drilled in record time of just two and a half months.
The Baltim 7 well comes within the ambitious plan to reach record levels of natural gas production from the Nile Delta region.
The report emphasised the plan's success in developing and producing gas from the Baltim region. It reached the targeted production capacities shortly after production started last September.
When fully operational in September, Baltim South West achieved expected daily production of 500m scf/day in seven months from four wells out of the six planned by the Ministry of Petroleum. Thus the field's production was increased while adhering to the policy of reducing costs and rationalising expenditures.
