Lesaffre Egypt for yeast production aims to export 8,000 tonnes by end of 2020

Lesaffre Egypt for the manufacture of fresh and dry yeast aims to export 8,000 tonnes of yeast by the end of this year, compared to 6,000 tonnes in 2019, according to Karim Omar, chairperson of exports at the company.
He said that the company puts 80% of its production on the local market, and exports the rest to foreign countries. African countries are the largest importers, in addition to Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Syria, Palestine, Mozambique, and Mauritania.
He continued, “The company's factory in Egypt is located in an area of 36,000sqm, in the new city of Nubaria, in Beheira. It includes two production lines for packing and packaging, the first to produce dry yeast with a production capacity estimated at 21,000 tonnes annually, and the other for the production of fresh yeast with a production capacity estimated at about 18,000 tonnes annually”.
Lesaffre works in the strategic food industry of the fresh and dry yeast sector, and it owns several export brands which are Acta, King, and La Royal, while Forno is a leading brand in the local market.
Lesaffre was established in 1997, and it is one of the largest producers of yeast in Egypt. It has obtained several quality certificates including the Halal and ISO 9001 certificates in 2008.
He said that the company aims to increase the volume of its exports during the next year to nearly EGP 255m, compared to EGP 197m, at growth rate of 29% compared to last year.
Lesaffre also aims to increase its sales to EGP 600m by the end of 2020, compared to EGP 500m last year.
