Military Production, Swiss TCG sign MoU for waste-to-energy technologies
Such cooperation will help to deepen local manufacturing, increase the added value, reduce importation

The National Authority for Military Production and the Swiss TCG signed a memorandum of understanding over waste-to-energy technologies, according to a statement from the Ministry of Environment on Saturday.
This cooperation comes within the framework of the implementation of the Ministry of Military Production's strategy to cooperate with international companies for the transfer and localisation of modern technologies in various manufacturing fields.
According to the statement, this cooperation will also help Egypt deepen local manufacturing and increase the added value, reduce importation, and provide foreign currency to enhance the national economy.
Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, expressed confidence in the ability of military production companies to benefit from the Swiss technology used in the establishment of a waste recycling system and transfer the Swiss expertise in this area to Egyptian companies.
She added that this is expected to contribute to the success of the National Solid Waste Management Programme (NSWMP), and pointed out that her ministry has a clear map for the implementation of the programme in cooperation with the Ministries of Military Production and Local Development, and the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
Robert Hargitai, the executive director of TCG, stressed his company's interest in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production because of its technological, manufacturing, technical, research, human, and infrastructure capabilities.
About a week ago, the Egyptian cabinet approved the purchasing tariff of waste-to-energy at EGP 1.4 per kW/h.
According to the cabinet's decision, the purchase price shall be in Egyptian pounds and in accordance with a price formula applied over a period of 25 years. The purchase agreement for the electric power generated from waste shall be between the governorate where the production plant is located and the plant itself. The land of the project will be allocated by the hosting governorate on a usufruct scheme.
