Third phase of ‘100 Million Health' initiative screened about 17.3 million people

Ministry of Health announced distributing 8,040 freshly graduated doctors over different health directorates across Egypt as part of their residency or postgraduate training, according a Sunday statement.
The ministry spokesperson Khaled Mogahed denied some media reports that the ministry would halt medical residency.
It comes after criticism from the parliament. Ali Abdel Aal, parliament speaker, said on Sunday that neither the ministry nor the cabinet have the right to halt medical residency despite the need of more hospitals to meet the demand of hospitals.
The ministry pointed out that "there is no intention at all" to cancel the residency, stressing the importance of increasing the number of doctors in hospitals and clinics in all provinces to provide medical services to citizens.
Mogahed asked the media to verify any information using reliable sources to avoid publishing false news that would confuse the public opinion.
On Monday, the Minister of Health Hala Zayed announced completing medical screening of about 17.37 million citizens in the 7th governorates of the third phase of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's initiative to eradicate Hepatitis C virus and the detection of non-communicable diseases.
The third phase of "100 Million Health" initiative lasted from 1 March until 15 April.
Zayed pointed out that the three phases of the presidential initiative benefited about 48.36 million citizens so far, stressing that the state is continuing to examine citizens and offer free medication.
