Senior members of the state-owned General Union of Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) decided to host dialogues with different civil society representatives to hear their views regarding the proposed amendments of the 2014 Constitution.
This came during the meeting of union's board of directors on Sunday in order to prepare plans for the scheduled dialogues.
The dialogues will start on Monday and will last for one month with the members of unions, women organisations, as well as other institutions.
The outcome of the scheduled meetings will be referred to the Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, to be discussed by the parliamentary committee of constitutional and legislative affairs.
Moreover, during the meeting, the members said that they intend to launch a campaign titled ‘Participate, Egypt is the most important', in order to encourage people to cast their votes in the referendum on the amendment of the constitution, but only after the parliament's and the president's official approval.
In a similar context, the union said that they will request Abdel Aal to invite the members of civil society organisations to attend hearing sessions in order to provide their views and suggestions to the legislative committee.
On Saturday, the Head of the constitutional and legislative affairs committee, Bahaa El-Din Abou Shoka, said that the referendum on the constitutional amendments is expected be held before May, during a televised interview with TV anchor Ahmed Moussa.
On Thursday, the Parliament approved a request by fifth of members to amend some articles of the constitution after the majority voted in favour of the amendments.
