Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, met Kuwait's Emir Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday during his visit to Kuwait. Both discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in different fields and political issues of common interest. Shoukry delivered an invitation from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Al-Sabah in order to visit his second homeland Egypt, asserting his country keenness on enhancing consultations between the two countries on all developments in the Arab region, especially the role Kuwait plays in the United Nation Security Council in defending the region's issues, the foreign ministry statement said. Furthermore, Shoukry also met with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al Sabah and his Kuwaiti counterpart. The two discussed international and regional of common interest and bolstering cooperation in various fields to enhance the brotherly relations between the two countries. Shoukry headed on Monday to Kuwait to lead Egypt's delegation to the 12th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Committee between the two countries. A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between the two countries' foreign ministers. “The Joint Committee is scheduled to witness the signing of a number of agreements and MoUs between the two sides," the statement stated, adding "in addition to reinforcing consultation and coordination on positions regarding overall regional and international issues of mutual interest, in a manner that would strengthen the Arab unity and joint action as a key pillar to maintaining peace and security in the region."
