Egyptian women athletes win 10 medals in 2018 Mediterranean Games

Female Egyptian athletes have won 10 medals until now in the Mediterranean Games that is being held in Tarragona, Spain from 22 June to 1 July.
The 10 medals include Farida Osman winning one silver medal for the women's 100-metre butterfly swimming event and two gold medals.
Osman received her first gold medal for the 50-metre butterfly event on Sunday. She finished in first place clocking 25.48 seconds, breaking the Mediterranean Games record.
Meanwhile, her second gold medal was for the women's 50-metre freestyle at the Mediterranean Games.
Osman is a 22-year-old athlete previously named as the Best African Female Athlete at the 2017 Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards in Prague.
The fourth medal was received in karate by Areej Saeed, who won Egypt's first bronze medal in the sport.
Meanwhile, the fifth was gained by Giana Farouk, also in karate, winning Egypt bronze in karate in the 61 kg competition on Saturday.
The sixth medal was a bronze one won by weightlifter Heba Saleh, achieving third place in the 48 kg weightlifting competition.
Meanwhile, the seventh was also a bronze medal achieved by the pistol shooter Afaf El Hodhod.
Furthermore, the eighth and ninth medals were brought to Egypt by weightlifter Sara Samir, who won the snatch, clean, and jerk gold medals in the women's 69 kg class. Ahmed was the first Arab woman to win an Olympic weightlifting medal when she won bronze in the 69 kg class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Furthermore, gymnast Nancy Taman won another gold medal, rounding off the 10 medals won by the women athletes.
Egyptian women athletes' successes at Mediterranean Games in Tarragona continue as the Egyptian gymnast Farrah Hussien ranked fifth in the women's individual all-around competition with 51,200 points, two shy of the first place winner, Lara Mori from Italy.
The competition is still ongoing, and women are expected to achieve more medals in the games.
The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport event that is held every four years under the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, between nations around or very close to the Mediterranean Sea, where countries from Europe, Africa, and Asia meet.
The multi-sport event includes sports such as basketball, volleyball, boxing, equestrian, handball, judo, cycling, rowing, water polo, karate, weightlifting, shooting, swimming, and gymnastics.
According to the Egyptian Olympics Committee, there are 170 Egyptian players from both genders participating in 2018 tournament.
