Car prices continue climbing in August

July ended, and August began, but the expectations of distributors and dealers in the auto market remained mere inc as no prices have gone down as predicted.
Even worse, several companies raised their prices in late July and August by over 8% compared to the beginning of July.
Among the companies that raised prices are Opel, Hyundai, Toyota, Chevrolet, Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, and Kia. The increase ranged between EGP 2,000 and EGP 90,000.
Several companies had kept their prices unchanged in July from June, except for Hyundai, Nissan, and Chery that moved their prices by EGP 1,500-11,000.
In this report, Daily News Egypt highlights the prices of cars in August.

Opel changes prices of Astra, Corsa, and Mokka

The German carmaker Opel had increased the price of its Astra by EGP 5,000 to reach EGP 325,000, as well as a similar amount to the price of Corsa to settle at EGP 265,000.
The company also added EGP 9,000 on the price of the Insignia, Cascade, Adam, and Mokka, as well as EGP 19,000 on the price of the Meriva to reach EGP 319,000.
Opel maintained the price of its other models during June and July.

Hyundai Tucson at EGP 450,000
Hyundai raised the price at late July, where the Tucson price was moved by EGP 5,000 to begin at EGP 450,000. The same price was offered in August.
Hyundai increased the price of the Verna in the beginning of July by an amount of EGP 1,000 and EGP 3,500. The price of the Verna was increased by EGP 1,600.
Hyundai also increased the price of the i10 by EGP 1,900, settling at EGP 180,000, and the price of the Grand i10 by EGP 2,000, to reach EGP 230,000.
The price of the Elantra HD rose by EGP 2,000, with the base trim now standing at EGP 225,000, while the cost of the Tuscon was previously lowered by EGP 60,000 to begin at EGP 445,000.
Toyota hikes the Corolla price by EGP 12,000
Toyota added EGP 12,000 to the Corolla's price to register EGP 347,000. It also increased the price of the Yaris to reach EGP 295,000, EGP 35,000 on the Auris to reach EGP 390,000, and EGP 12,000 on the C-HR.
The Japanese brand also raised the price of the Fortuner model to begin at EGP 924,900 to EGP 1.134m, depending on the trim.
Toyota had kept the prices of May in June and the beginning of July.

Chevrolet hikes the prices of the Aveo, Lanos, and Cruze
Chevrolet moved up the prices of its cars at the end of July and kept the prices going in August. The increase ranged between EGP 2,500 and EGP 9,000. The price of the Aveo was surged by EGP 4,250 to begin at EGP 187,800, while that of the Optra was increased by EGP 5,000 to settle at EGP 205,000. The price of the Lanos was increased by EGP 3,000 to reach EGP 158,400, while the price of the Cruze was hiked by EGP 9,000 to reach 279,000.
American brand Chevrolet had kept the prices of its models unchanged in July, except for the Cruze, which was brought down by EGP 30,000 to settle at EGP 27,000. The prices were then moved at the end of July.

Mercedes prices up by EGP 5,000-30,000
Mercedes raised the prices of its cars by EGP 5,000-30,000 at the beginning of August, adding EGP 5,000 to the price of the C180, EGP 30,000 on the price of the CLA180, and EGP 10,000 on the E180.
Mercedes has kept the prices of its models in June through the beginning of July before moving them in August.

BMW adds EGP 90,000 on the price of X3
The German manufactuter BMW raised the price of the 320i by EGP 20,000 to reach EGP 740,000, in addition to EGP 90,000 on the price of the X3 and EGP 40,000 on the X5.
The company had kept the prices unchanged in June and July.

Nissan raises price of Sunny to over EGP 200,000
Nissan changed the prices in August, raising the price of Sunny by EGP 2,500 to begin at EGP 200,500 up to EGP 202,500.
Nissan also added EGP 3,000 on the price of Sentra to reach EGP 291,000 and EGP 5,000 to the Qashqai price tag.
The company had moved the price in July too by EGP 2,000 on the Sunny to begin at EGP 198,000 up to EGP 218,000, while the price of the Sentra was increased by EGP 11,000 to reach EGP 288,000.

Kia raised the prices of the Carens, Cerato, and Soul by EGP 4,000
Korean brand Kia added EGP 4,000 on the price of Carens, Cerato, and Soul, as well as EGP 5,000 on the price of the Ceed to begin at EGP 365,000, EGP 3,000 to the price of the Rio to settle at EGP 318,000, and EGP 2,000 on the price of the Picanto to reach EGP 232,000.
The carmaker had kept its prices unchanged in May, June, and July for the first time in 18 months.

Mitsubishi fixes its prices for the fourth month
The Japanese Mitsubishi has not witnessed any price changes in May, June, July, and the beginning of August. The last increase was on the Pajero by 45%, hiking it to reach EGP 1.6m. The price of the rest of the models were fixed at those of February, which witnessed an increase of EGP 10,000 on the Lancer, making its prices start at EGP 245,000 for the first trim and up to EGP 275,000 for the higher trim.

GB Auto keeps prices of Geely Emgrand 7 at EGP 150,500
Ghabbour Auto, the Geely dealership, kept the price of the Emgrand 7 unchanged at EGP 150,500.
GB Auto has reduced the price of the car in July by EGP 8,500 to settle at EGP 150,500.

Renault keeps prices stable
French brand Renault kept the prices of May through June, July, and August.
Renault had increased the price of the Logan by EGP 15,000 last month, with the price of the manual gear trim starting at EGP 180,000 and the automatic version at EGP 205,000. Renault had also increased the price of the Lodgy by EGP 8,000 to reach EGP 249,000, and the price of the Sandero and Stepway by EGP 15,000. It also added EGP 10,000 on the prices of the Captur and Kadjar.

Ford Kuga begins at EGP 535,000
American brand Ford kept the same prices of July, except for the Kuga, which was increased to EGP 535,000—up by EGP 5,000.
Daily News Egypt's tour of American cars showed that Ford has maintained July's prices. Ford had raised the price of its Focus to begin at EGP 290,000.

Chery prices remain the same
Chinese bran Chery kept the price of its cars in August as in July.
The Chinese company had increased the price of its Tiggo by EGP 1,1000 to take the price to EGP 221,000, whereas the price of the Envy was also lifted by EGP 1,100 to settle at EGP 136,000.
