Development and urban expansion top recommendations of National Youth Conference
President Al-Sisi called on the government to involve youth in the 2030 strategy for governance
Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 07 - 2017

During the end session of the National Youth Conference, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi concluded with recommendations that mainly focused on involving more youth in the decision making process and the urban expansion.
Attended by 1,500 youth members from around Egypt, as well as government officials and public figures, the second day of the conference tackled the economic status of the country. During the last session, Al-Sisi vowed the state will support and finance the Youth Conversation International Forum, where several kings and heads of states will be invited, as well as young people from different countries.
Al-Sisi also said that the government will be assigned to use young people to come up with the 2030 strategy. He also asserted that the state will work on supporting the urban infrastructure in the city of Alexandria, including urban expansion and developing several transportation roads. He also directed for a committee to be formed of representatives from the ministries of defence, housing, local development, and the Beheira governorate.
He also said that the government will finish several industrial projects in the city of Beheira, as well as set a plan for a whole new culture institution in the New Administrative Capital, as well as in different cities of Upper Egypt.
The president asserted that the facts about these decisions and the implications of the economic measures should be presented, and he called upon the media to illustrate these facts to the people. He explained that the economic decisions were essential and that the state has planned to limit the consequences of the policies on the common people.
On Monday night, Al-Sisi participated in a Q&A with the youth participating in the conference, as part of the initiative titled "Ask the President". He said that he appreciated how the Egyptian people have reacted to the economic development that is currently undergoing in the government.
Regarding terrorism and the countries accused of supporting militancy, Al-Sisi added that for seven years several Arab states have suffered from foreign intervention in their internal affairs, but he asserted Egypt has remained autonomous in its decision making.
The conference takes place every three months in accordance with Al-Sisi's previous decision during its launch last October. The first conference was held in Sharm El-Sheikh in October, the second in Aswan in January, and the third in Ismaila in April.
Previous conferences were also addressing current economic, social, and political issues. The focus of the Sharm El-Sheikh conference was reviewing what the state had achieved for the youth throughout recent years and how it had assisted in improving their skills, while the Aswan conference focused on discussing the issues of Upper Egypt's governorates.
