Al-Qadi discusses cooperation with US companies' officials
The communications minister agreed with Synopsys to establish a training centre for the education of local technological cadres

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser Al-Qadi discussed with Oracle Corporation's officials the possibility of opening a local centre of the company at one of the new technological parks. That came during a meeting between Al-Qadi and Gary Miller, general manager and senior vice president for advanced customer services at Oracle, as well as other officials of the company, during the Egyptian minister's visit to the United States. Al-Qadi was accompanied by a high-level delegation of leaders of the ministry and its affiliates.
During the meeting, Oracle's officials expressed their willingness to participate in technological parks in Egypt. Miller pointed out that Oracle has established two training centres at the Borg El Arab and Assiut technological parks.
Al-Qadi also met with Sam Yen, chief design officer of SAP, and discussed the establishment of a control unit to follow-up on national projects implemented by various economic sectors.
The two sides also discussed a proposed plan to invest in the Egyptian market, which includes offering the company's products for technological solutions, such as cloud computing, as well as training and certifying consultants and supporting Egyptian start-ups.
SAP is a multinational European software corporation that produces enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations. During the meeting, Yen briefed the participants about the different activities of the company, including innovation, data platforms, and smart cities systems.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Qadi and his accompanying delegation toured the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre at the company's headquarters in Silicon Valley. He was also briefed about the new support programmes for start-ups.
Furthermore, Al-Qadi met with Joachim Kunkel, executive vice president and general manager of the solutions group at Synopsys Inc—specialised in the electronic design automation industry—where the two sides agreed on an executive plan to establish a training centre for the development of local technological cadres. This is part of the ministry's efforts to meet the growing needs of local industries for electronics.
Synopsys is considered one of the 15 leading companies in the electronic design automation industry and offers a wide range of products used in the design of silicon chips and computer systems. The company is also interested in development and investment in human resources.
