Dabaa nuclear plant final contract to be signed by year's end: Electricity Minister
The external arbitration of the second phase of the feed-in tariff will be held in Paris
Published in Daily News Egypt on 14 - 11 - 2016

Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker said that they agreed with the Russian side to sign the nuclear plant's final contract by the end of the year.
The Dabaa agreement includes signing four contracts for the engineering, supply, operation, and maintenance of the power plant over 10 years.
Shaker added that they agreed with the Russian side to launch the promotional campaign for the station next April, and they will start training 1,711 people to work at the station.
He said that Egypt will send 30 major Egyptian public figures to Russia to learn about the mechanism of nuclear plants, and to follow up on safety procedures.
The ministry agreed with the working companies to invest in new and renewable energy projects. The external arbitration of the feed-in tariff's second phase will be held in Paris, while the internal arbitration will be held in Cairo.
Shaker noted that the ministry is studying three offers submitted by international companies to implement road networks and electricity distribution projects.
He added that the total capacities agreed upon reach 19,950 MW in the first and second stages of the solar energy feed-in tariff projects.
The financial offers presented by nine companies for establishing renewable energy plants are under review and are currently in the final evaluation stage.
Shaker explained that the companies' capacities that withdrew from implementing renewable energy projects are estimated at 850 MM.
He pointed out that the financing parties withdrew from the first stage of the feed-in tariff projects as they insisted on placing the international arbitration outside of Egypt.
Shaker said that they offered the second stage of the renewable energy feed-in tariff projects before completing the first stage.
