Ahly beat Zamalek to clinch fifth Egyptian Super Cup
Published in Daily News Egypt on 28 - 07 - 2008

CAIRO: Second half goals from Ahmed Hassan and substitute Moataz Eno gave Ahly a 2-0 over Zamalek in a thrilling Egyptian Super Cup in Cairo on Sunday.
The victory gave Ahly their fifth Egyptian Super Cup title and second win over their rivals after a 2-1 win in the CAF Champions League last week and like the first it was a close encounter.
Egypt captain Hassan, playing his second game with Ahly, opened the score for the Red Devils while former Zamalek midfielder Eno sealed the win one minute from the final whistle.
Austrian referee Fritz Stuchlik will be declared Zamalek s number one enemy after three successive calls that went against their team.
Zamalek were denied a penalty claim when Ahmed Abdel-Raouf faked a foul in the area after a mild tackle from keeper Amir Abdel-Hamid in the 58th minute.
One minute later Zamalek striker had a goal disallowed for offside and almost immediately Tunisian defender Wissem El-Abdi was given his marching orders.
El-Abdi picked up his second yellow card for hitting Hassan without the ball.
Fellow Tunisian Anis Boujelbene had the first chance of the match when he unleashed a long range drive that Zamalek keeper Abdel-Wahed Al-Sayed parried to a corner-kick.
Al-Sayed was called into one more time from an Ahmed Sedik free-kick and Ahmed Al-Sayed sent the ball wide from close range.
Newcomers Ricardo and Alaa Kamal had two efforts for Zamalek.
Mohamed Barakat wasted the best chance of the game in the 43rd minute.
Hassan sent a silky pass to Sayed Moawad in the area and the Egypt international squared the unmarked Barakat who sent the ball wide with the goal at his mercy.
Ahly took the lead two minutes into the second-half when Barakat made up for his fluke by setting up Hassan with a slick through pass that the latter tucked in at the far post.
Zamalek looked more dangerous after the goal as Coach Reiner Hollmann fielded striker Sherif Ashraf and Mostafa Gaafar.
Ahly picked up their game late and grabbed a second goal through dead-ball specialist Moetaz Eno who pounced on a clearance from Zamalek defense and volleyed home from the edge of the area.
