More suspects arrested in connection with Faisal explosion
Further investigations revealed that attackers had previously participated in anti-government protests, police forces say

Police forces arrested Friday the second and third suspects in the bombing that left three injured on Wednesday night in the Faisal district of Giza, according to state media.
The police said the first suspect, who is now in custody, was interrogated and confessed to his involvement in the attack. Further investigations revealed that the attackers had previously participated in anti-government protests, according to police forces.
Security officials confirmed to state-run news agency MENA that the explosion was caused by an IED. The explosion targeted a police armed personnel carrier. A private car and another police vehicle were also destroyed in the blast.
Those injured in the blast were taken to the nearby Al-Haram hospital for medical treatment.
IED explosions have become a frequent occurrence in Egypt since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. Militant groups affiliated to "Islamic State" often claim responsibility for the attacks.
The successful targeting of former prosecutor-general Hisham Barakat in a car bomb attack in Cairo in June of last year marked the most high-profile assassination in Egypt for decades.
Security officials suspect that the militant group Al-Murabiteen, purportedly a cell formed within the larger "Sinai Province" militant group, was responsible for the assassination of Barakat.
