The British Monarch Airways postponed the decision to resume its flights to Sharm El-Sheikh from 14 March until 18 April. "There has been no change in travel advice from the UK government, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), and the Department for Transport (DfT)," the airline said on its website. British Monarch is committed to working with security services and the Egyptian government to ensure the safety of its customers who wish to travel to Sharm El-Sheikh and it remains their objective to resume a flying programme once an approval is granted. The number of British tourists in Egypt was 860,000 in 2015. Britain had decided to halt tours to Sharm El-Sheikh since early November after the Russian plane crashed and all 224 Russian passengers and crew were killed on 31 October 2016. Customers who are affected by these cancellations are entitled to change a booking to a later date or rebook to another destination on the Monarch network. Customers can also request a credit note towards future travel or a refund, according to British Monarch. "The safety and security of our passengers will always remain our number one priority," British Monarch said in a press release.
