Egyptian citizen run over, killed in car accident in Riyadh
The incident purportedly occurred following a dispute over who would cross the road first

An Egyptian national was killed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Monday after Saudi perpetrators ran over him with a car.
Walid Hamdy, 35, was a sales representative and was hit by a car driven by a Saudi national. A video and photos of the incident were widely circulated on social media.
Four Saudi Arabian citizens were in the car that drove over Hamdy, according to local news outlets. The Egyptian foreign ministry said that three of the Saudis who were involved are from one family, adding that all perpetrators were referred to prosecution.
The incident purportedly occurred following a dispute over who would cross the street first, according to accounts by Egyptian expats in Saudi Arabia on social media.
Hamdy's body was transported to Al-Imam hospital in Riyadh. The foreign ministry stressed that the Egyptian consulate in Riyadh assign a legal counsellor to attend the Saudi prosecution investigations, while assigning a lawyers' office to communicate with Hamdy's family in Egypt over the legal procedures.
A similar incident took place in Kuwait last November, when Egyptian expat Ahmed Atef was killed and two Egyptians nationals and one Kuwaiti citizen were seriously injured, allegedly as a result of a fight between Egyptian workers and two Kuwaitis.
The two Kuwaitis wanted to buy an electric games console at half its price but Amin refused. They then reportedly began insulting him and Amin asked them to leave the shop.
Relatives of the victims told Daily News Egypt then that the dispute escalated and moved outside the mall, where another Kuwaiti citizen got into his vehicle and allegedly repeatedly ran over and killed one of the Egyptian men involved in the altercation, named Ahmed Atef.
