3.3% decline in manufacturing, extractive industries production index in October: CAPMAS
CAPMAS issued a metadata report of the production index of manufacturing and extractive industries for October 2015
Published in Daily News Egypt on 16 - 12 - 2015

The production index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, was 116.00 in October 2015, recording a decrease of 3.3% compared to September 2015 when it was 120.01, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS issued Wednesday a metadata report of the production index of manufacturing and extractive industries for October 2015. It revealed that the total index for the manufacture of beverages was 155.04 in October, compared to 187.11 in September, recording a decline of 17.1% due to availability of supply from the previous month.
The total index for manufacturing of machinery and equipment, such as engines, machines, specialised machines, and air-conditioners was 210.25 in October compared to 225.23 in September, a decrease of 6.7%.
CAPMAS attributed the drop to reduced production of air conditioners (because of the winter season), equipment, and other machines due to the unavailability of financial liquidity.
The total index for the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products was 108.47 in October, compared to 94.03 in September, marking an increase of 15.4%. The increase is due to the rise in the rate of energy supply for cement factories and increased demand for ceramic and earthenware products.
According to the total index for the manufacture of computers, electronics, and optical products, CAPMAS reported that it was 92.36 in October, compared to 57.70 in September, an increase of 60.1%, due to implementation of supply contracts and the availability of raw materials.
