The RiseUp Summit inaugurated Saturday with the representation of 25 countries worldwide. The event features who's who in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship and attracted wide crowds from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Morocco, and Tunisia.
Participants from Europe included companies and mentors from Turkey, Sweden, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. Participating companies included Uber, PayFort, Shaghalni, Tennra, Kotobna, and Shisan.
"In its third year, the RiseUp Summit gained worldwide recognition as the place to be for anyone who wants to engage with the MENA entrepreneurship ecosystem in any capacity," founder and CEO of RiseUp Abdel Hameed Sharara said. "I travelled to 20 countries in the past two years and I've spoken about entrepreneurship in MENA in ten global conferences. From every place I've been, the excitement and anticipation has been phenomenal".
Start-up companies include Temenos, the global leader in banking solutions, which announced that Fintech companies and start-ups from Egypt and the Middle East region will get the opportunity to showcase their products and solutions to the world's largest financial institutions through the Temenos Fintech Innovation Jam.

"Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at Temenos," its MarketPlace Director Aaron Phethean said. "We are passionate about exciting current and future developments in financial services software. We see a huge opportunity for start-ups from the region to expose their products and solutions through our platform, which will give them access to over 2,000 financial institutions that serve 500 million banking customers through our customer base and through the MarketPlace app-store".
RiseUp Summit will take place in a number of locations across downtown Cairo, including The GrEEK Campus. The agenda includes 70 workshops, 30 panel discussions and demos, 14 talks and multiple pitch events, 140 sessions in-all, from 200 local, regional, and international speakers.
