Egyptian Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou held a meeting with British ambassador in Cairo John Casson Monday to discuss the British-Egyptian joint plan to restore flights between the UK and Sharm El-Sheikh. "Britain was the first to take precautionary action in Sharm El-Sheikh and we want to be the first to help find a solution," Casson said after the meeting, according to a statement released by the embassy. The British and Egyptian governments have been in constant contact to agree on a way forward, including the visit of the British Deputy National Security Adviser to Cairo on 18 and 19 November. "I am very grateful to the Egyptian authorities for their continued cooperation as we work together to restore flights," Casson said. "I was given a mandate from my government to agree on a joint action plan by the end of November for the return of flights as soon as possible. I am pleased to say that Egypt and the United Kingdom have today finalised that plan." This is a significant step forward and the agreed measures will start immediately. Following approvals by both governments, UK operators can make the necessary decisions to resume flights to Sharm El-Sheikh as soon as possible, according to the statement.
