Orascom-Hassan Allam alliance wins project to prepare 3 military airports
Development works include the airports of Katameya, West Cairo, and El-Maliz, to support the development of the Suez Canal area

The Orascom Construction-Hassan Allam alliance won a bid for the construction of three military airports that will also be used for civilians next to their military uses. The airports are the El-Maliz in Sinai, Katameya and West Cairo, according to statements by a source close to the development works.
In the same context, the Engineering Consultants Group (ECG) won a project to design and revise the airports, as well as supervise the implementation process.
El-Maliz airport is 50 km away from Ismailia. It will be one of the logistic axes to support the development of the Suez Canal area, while the Katameya airport is located on the Cairo-Ain Sokhna road.
According to the engineering consultant Amr Allouba, Chairman of ECG, developing each airport includes establishing 27 facilities, on the top of them building passenger terminal with a construction area of 8,000 sqm. The target is to complete the designs of developing the three airports before the end of the year.
Constructions works include an administrative building with an area of 720 sqm, a control tower with an area of 1,500 sqm, the airport maintenance building on an area of 340 sqm, a building for the airport wastes on an area of 107 sqm, and three power plants on areas of 480 sqm, 220 sqm, and 115 sqm.
The development works also include establishing a major lighting building on an area of 220 sqm, and a minor lighting building in an area of 480 sqm, as well as a building for firefighting on an area of 833 sqm.
Moreover, the project will include a building for meteorology, hotel for the employees, parking, a mosque, a water tank, and a chlorine treatment room.
