Communication with Egyptians abroad to be reinforced to strengthen homeland ties: Nabila Makram
We will work on facilitating procedures of transferring Egyptians' savings from abroad in coordination with concerned authorities: Immigration minister
Published in Daily News Egypt on 23 - 09 - 2015

The Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs is preparing to reinforce communication with Egyptian emigrants to strengthen their ties to their homeland as well as utilise their experiences and competencies in various fields and specialities. This is in order to contribute to Egypt's development, said Minister Nabila Makram.
Makram told Daily News Egypt that she is working on studying her ministry's files through meeting with the Ministry of Manpower in order to develop a work programme and the ministry's strategy over the upcoming phase.
The ministry will act as a bridge and link between Egyptians abroad and their country, according to Makram. She added that transferring Egyptians' savings from abroad to Egypt will enhance the country's ability to provide hard currency.
According to Makram, there will be coordination with concerned authorities in order to facilitate emigrants' transfer procedures and offer them all forms of support and care. In addition, the ministry seeks to become familiar with their suggestions regarding increasing cooperation between them and different Egyptian business circles, especially in the light of available investment opportunities in Egypt.
Makram, who took the constitutional oath before President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Saturday, said that she worked abroad in the Gulf, Europe and America, and has been able to completely accommodate the needs of Egyptian citizens abroad, noting that Egyptians have strong loyalty to their homeland.
Regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections, Makram said it is an especially prominent process because of the participation of Egyptians living abroad in it. She confirmed that after the constitutional oath, the prime minister asked her to coordinate with all concerned authorities like the foreign affairs authority and the Supreme Committee for Elections to conduct the electoral process effectively.
Makram said that the illegal immigration file is the most important in the ministry, and she will work on studying it well, confirming that she has wide-based experience in this file in Italy. "The ministry will also focus on illegal immigration," said Makram.
