BAPETCO's discovery increases daily oil production to 50,600 barrels
Well's original oil records about 15m barrels, adds approximately 5m barrels to oil reserves

Badr Petroleum Company's (BAPETCO) exploratory Bed3C6-1 well has been successfully drilled to increase added reserves of crude oil, Emad Hamdy, BAPETCO's Chairman and Managing Director, announced Monday.
The well was created in the structure south of the main bounding fault of the Bed 3 field to explore the hydrocarbon (HC) potential of the Abu Roash G formation.
The well's production test has shown it has a production capacity of 3,850 barrels daily, which increases the company's production of crude oil to over 50,600 barrels per day.
However, the well's original oil in place records approximately 15m barrels, while it has added around 5m barrels to the oil reserves.
The well drilling results showed the largest thickness is in the upper Abu Roash G sandstone reservoir, recorded at approximately 40 metres, with 24% porosity, the highest thickness level ever recorded in the area. The lower Abu Roash G sandstone recorded 12 metres thickness, with 20% porosity.
As a consequence of the new discovery, the company's total production of oil and gas currently will reach 132,600 barrels per day.
Badr Petroleum Company is an affiliate of the Egyptian General Petroleum Cooperation's (EGPC), jointly owned by Shell Egypt. BAPETCO is responsible for the development and production of Shell's fields in the Western Desert.
