A new explosion hit Al-Arish in North Sinai Tuesday morning in the town of Gharb Al-Masaed leaving 25 CSF conscripts injured. The casualties are still being tracked and there is no confirmed number, according to the Ministry of Interior. However, North Sinai's head of the ambulance service was quoted by an "Islamic State" (IS) supporter on Twitter as saying "25 policemen were injured". Several IS-affiliated rebels based in Sinai announced, via Twitter, their responsibility for the attacks. The Interior Ministry told Daily News Egypt: "A truck was trying to storm into the building of the Central Security Forces; it was earlier reported as stolen." The ministry added that the policemen shot fire at the car, but since it contained enormous explosive devices, several policemen were injured. In an official statement, the ministry said: "The policemen's injuries were slight due to the broken glass of the truck windows." The ministry also announced it is currently intensifying its investigations to learn the identity of the driver who was killed during the crossfire. "State of Sinai", formerly known as Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, has increased their insurgent activities in North Sinai since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. The group mainly targets security personnel and facilities, as well as alleged informants to the armed forces. In late 2014, the group pledged allegiance to "Islamic State", changing their name to "State of Sinai".
