The prosecution ordered the arrest of an alleged member of the "Helwan Brigades" for 15 days pending investigations on Wednesday. He was arrested on charges of murder and possession of weapons and explosives, as well as joining an illegal group, according to state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram. The prosecution's investigations alleged that the accused had disguising himself as a covered-up woman, hiding a bomb with the intention of blowing up Al-Tebeen Police Department in Helwan. The investigations also revealed that he had participated in a shootout targeting a police check-point, resulting in the death and injury of a number of security personnel, Al-Ahram reported. The defendant was arrested during protests last Friday, and was referred to prosecution. The Ministry of Interior announced in late August that it would take action to apprehend members of the "Helwan Brigades" who participated in a video released earlier that month. The video featured a number of men holding firearms and threatening security forces and "the interior ministry in South Cairo" with violence, adding that they were "fed up with the Muslim Brotherhood's peacefulness". Security forces arrested a journalist working for Rassd News Network (RNN) who had shot the video, the interior ministry announced early September. According to the interior ministry, the group aims to "spread chaos and terrorise citizens", and includes Ayman Ahmed AbdelGhany, the son-in-law of prominent Muslim Brotherhood member Khairat El-Shater, claiming that this provides a link between the two groups.
