Published in Daily News Egypt on 07 - 05 - 2014

Cimatheque is inviting applications for its latest project Kurrasat Al Cimatheque or Cahier de la Cimatheque, after the famous Cahiers du Cinéma. The project is a training programme on film criticism and creative programming and is calling on writers, critics, bloggers, journalists and filmmakers with an interest in criticism to apply.
Kurrasat Al Cimatheque is slated to take place from June to September 2014 and has place for 12 participants. It involves six intensive training sessions hosted by mentors Qays El Zubaydi, Rasha Salti, Rima Mismar, Tahar Chikhaoui, Ekbal Zalila and Khaled Ahmad Yousef.
The deadline for applications is 8 May. The programme will revolve around a curriculum focused on theoretical and practical aspects of film analysis. Part of the curriculum involves developing the participants' writing methodologies and style. The workshop sessions will all be held in Arabic and the programme will feature six weeks of screening programmes that are open to the public and will be curated by the mentors.
Among the principal aims of the programme will be a quarterly publication that deals with alternative cinema, also titled Kurrasat Al Cimatheque.
Cimatheque is a film centre in Downtown Cairo and is dedicated to alternative cinema and providing a space for discussion and analysis of alternative cinema.
Cimatheque also hosts year-round screenings and workshops that are open to the public to provide a learning space for those with an interest in cinema.
