The State Litigation Authority (SLA), the government's legal representative, has decided not to appeal a court ruling to disband the Muslim Brotherhood, the authority's spokesperson Sameh Sayed said on Monday. The court ruling on 23 September disbanded the Brotherhood and ordered the confiscation of its capital, after Mahmoud Abdallah, member of the Al-Tagammu Party, filed the complaint. The decision was issued by the Circuit Court for Urgent Matters in Abdeen. In a statement, the cabinet days later said it would take the necessary procedures to implement the verdict immediately upon receiving it in the executive form. It added that it would not take any executive steps regarding the ban until a final court verdict is out. The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced that it would await final, unappealable judgment before executing. In a statement, the Muslim Brotherhood denounced the verdict, calling it political and exclusionary. The now banned organisation directed its statement towards the military, claiming that its predecessors "had previously failed at banishing the organisation and its members from Egyptian society, which makes up a vital part of the community."
