Brotherhood leader: "Now is the time for martyrdom"
Published in Daily News Egypt on 02 - 07 - 2013

Revolutionaries should undertake martyrdom to prevent a coup from taking place and to save the January 25th revolution the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said in a statement on Tuesday.
Mohamed Al-Beltagy, the general secretary for the Freedom and Justice Party, stated that after Egypt's Court of Cassation has allowed former prosecutor general Abdel Meguid Mahmoud to return to office, he will release all prisoners of the former regime, including former president Hosni Mubarak, former minister of interior Habib El-Adly and former National Democratic Party member Ahmed Ezz, so they can join "the new revolutionaries".
Al-Beltagy claimed that the Supreme Electoral Commission is meeting soon to look into annulling the presidential elections that brought President Mohamed Morsi to power. He also alleged the Constitutional Court is holding an emergency meeting to discuss the possibility of Mubarak's return to power and is abiding by the 1971 constitution until new presidential elections and the drafting of a new constitution take place.
"When Pro-Mubarak figures are becoming the symbols of the January Revolution and upcoming presidential candidate [Lieutenant General and former Supreme Council of the Armed Forces member] Sami Anan chants with the revolutionaries then the former regime is definitely staging a coup against the revolution," he claimed.
On Monday, the FJP called on all its members around the country to take to the streets and fight for the legitimacy of the government.
