Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 05 - 2013

The online media-sharing website YouTube will be hosting “Comedy Week" for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region. In partnership with creative network Kharabeesh Cartoons, the event will bring the best of comedy videos, rising talents and some of comedy's biggest names.
“If you like to laugh, come join us during Comedy Week as we celebrate the best of comedy with sketches, pranks, stand-up routines, parodies, and bringing together the best comedians in the region in a way that truly reflects the unique sense of humor in the Arab region," said Head of Video Partnerships in MENA Diana Baddar in an official statement.
Some of the comedy stars that will be featured include Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson, Michael Cera, Vince Vaugh and Seth Rogen. Former Saturday Night Live cast member Andy Samberg's comedy troupe The Lonely Island will also take part in the event.
YouTube's first-ever comedy week will also feature a collection of live events, video premieres and collaborations.
Besides Kharabeesh, the campaign will consist of other popular YouTube standup comedy and social and political satire channels such as Hawwa Show, StandUb, N20, FemalesShow, Black Moussiba and many other comedy clubs.
Popular comedy destinations with YouTube channels are also participating, such as The Onion, Funny or Die, Nerdist and CollegeHumor.
Comedy Week is scheduled to stream live globally on May 19 at 8 pm EST and continue until 25 May.
