Ain Shams security chiefs resign
Published in Daily News Egypt on 17 - 04 - 2013

President of Ain Shams University Hussein Eissa approved the resignation of both the director and supervisor of security for the university on Tuesday.
A statement released on the Ain Shams University's official website added that the director of the security unit for the Faculty of Education was assigned as head of security.
Eissa held a meeting with Minister of Higher Education Mostafa Mosaad to discuss the security problems the university has been facing.
The meeting comes following clashes that took place on Sunday when a protest organised by student union members entitled “No to thuggery" was attacked.
Clashes were renewed on Tuesday; police and military forces intervened to stop the fighting. Students held a student club called “New Vision" responsible for the attacks. The club was later suspended by the administration.
Eissa asked the higher education minister to increase the budget for campus security, calling on the Ministry of Interior to provide two police vehicles to guard the university's gates.
He also asked the interior ministry to train security personnel to diffuse fighting and provide them with simple tools to defend themselves against assault.
Additionally, Eissa called on the minister of justice to provide campus security with the power to arrest those committing criminal acts.
“This is unacceptable, the right to arrest can be used arbitrarily; the only solution is for the university administration to hire private security," said student union leader for the Faculty of Arts Yousif Sherif Amin.
Amin added that the removal or the resignation of campus security chiefs will not solve the issue of violence and assault at the university.
Eissa also met with Ain Shams University campus security personnel and asked them to exercise self restraint and exert more effort to maintain security.
