The computer technology company Intel reached an agreement with the Ministry of Education to distribute 20 million educational computer tablets to users throughout Egypt. A recent study conducted by the company found that worldwide an additional 216 million users would seek to purchase educational computer tablets throughout 2013. Ahmed al-Zaghbi, director of marketing development for Intel in Egypt, stated that sales for computer tablets have recently experienced growth rates of nearly 20%, with recent surveys conducted by the company estimating that at least 133 million users planned to purchase tablets in 2013, but that number could be expected to increase to 216 million. Advances in technology he said, have allowed the company to identify individual users based on their user devices. He said that new tablet models had been redesigned to help meet the various needs of users, including new long-lasting batteries that would last up to 3 weeks. Other companies seeking to market educational computer tablets in Egypt included Acer, Asus, Dell, Samsung, Lenovo and HP.
