Morsy in a week
Published in Daily News Egypt on 08 - 07 - 2012

Egypt's first civilian president, Mohamed Morsy, has been in power for exactly one week.
President Morsi
A quick look at the website ‘morsimeter.com' shows us that in his first week Morsy has achieved none of the sixty-four promises he made on the campaign trail.
So what has Morsy been doing?A fact-finding committee has been formed to investigate the many thousands who died in the process of overthrowing Hosni Mubarak.
The committee investigates evidence gathered between 25 January 2011, (beginning of the revolution) and 30 June 2012 (the date Morsy was sworn in).
Another commission will be formed to review the cases of those arrested during last year's revolution, saying “this commission should be formed as soon as possible to release all who are proved not to be involved in any criminal cases." Morsy has created an ‘Appeals Bureau', giving citizens the opportunity to get in contact with him to submit any complaints.Initially having only three branches, it is intended this bureau will expand until there is a branch in every city.
Citizens will also have the ability to submit a complaint online through a new website.
- Morsy is due to make his first foreign visit as Egypt's – head of state to Saudi Arabia this Wednesday.
Riyadh recalled its Ambassador in late April 2012 during the furore of the protests in Cairo, over the humanrights lawyer who was interned in Saudi Arabia. Morsy will be hoping to warm relations with this trip.
- Morsy still has not appointed a vice-president or any member of his cabinet. Instead, he is making do with the caretaker government headed by Kamal Al-Ganzoury.
