CAIRO: Enppi, one of Egypt's leading petroleum companies, signed on Sunday a Memorandum of Understanding with Emerson Process Management, who will deliver training courses at ENPPI Academy, the educational arm of engineering for the petroleum and process industries. In a show of commitment to capacity building in Egypt's market, Emerson will be helping train new graduate engineers at Enppi's Academy, which provides professional training services to a wide array of customers in Egypt and the Arab world. “The impact on the Egyptian industry is excepted to be high, as this is the first instance which a generation of Enppi engineers, customers and sub-vendors will be educated on Emerson's integrated solutions and technologies, which are among the most advanced in the field,” Alaa Hegazy, chairman assistant for Instrumentation and Control at Enppi announced in a statement. Emerson officials foresee that the new collaboration could transform the industry in the country as it will be the only training program providing comprehensive courses on Emerson's PlantWeb architecture equipment. “As the only vendor that can cover a full scope of PlantWeb courses and training demonstrations in this market, we expect Emerson's consultancy on the training program to enhance the course's attractiveness not only within the Egyptian market but to a wider student base from the rest of the Middle East and North Africa,” said Ahmed Abbas, Middle East and Africa service sales specialist, Emerson Process Management. Signing the agreement was Olfat Ezzat, chairman assistant for HR and Enppi Academy and David Kraft, Middle East and Africa sales director for Emerson Process Management. “Emerson is one of the leading suppliers of automated systems and instrumentation for several major oil, gas, and petrochemicals companies in the Egyptian market, and we provide these companies with a wide range of technologies and services based on our PlantWeb automation architecture,” said Kraft. “Enppi is committed to upgrading the skills base of personnel in this market, and we strongly believe the technical expertise imparted through our courses will assist in the academy's efforts by enhancing the curriculum offered to students.” As part of the agreement, Emerson will receive their own training facility at Enppi Academy, which will be fully equipped with Emerson's PlantWeb architecture technology . In turn, Emerson will be providing Enppi with a certified instructor who will conduct all of the offered courses for both clients and company personnel. The idea is for Emerson to contribute to capacity building in Egypt's industry by collaborating with local companies like Enppi in order to enhance the capabilities of trainees. The agreement also reiterates the academy's commitment to promote, organize, and integrate Emerson-certified courses them into the academy's curriculum. The signing of the memorandum is also expected to broaden Emerson's presence in Egypt's market beyond the current client base, which currently includes industry heavyweights such as GASCO Egypt, EBIC, RASHPETCO and Egypt LNG. Emerson, which is a US based company, is one of the world's leading companies that brings technology and engineering together in order to offer solutions for customers in the industrial, commercial, and consumer fields by providing services such as network power, storage process management, or industrial automation. Emerson's sales for the fiscal year 2010 were at $21 billion. Established in Egypt since 1978, Enppi provides full-integrated engineering services, construction supervision, as well as procurement services for many of the country's petroleum and petrochemicals industries. The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) currently owns 97 percent of Enppi's total shares.
